The United States Watch Co. is organized by Giles, Wales, & Co. with $500,000 in capital.

1866

Construction of the United States Watch Co. factory in Marion, New Jersey, built entirely of glass and iron, is completed at the cost of $125,000.

1867

The United States Watch Co. offers its first movements, named the "Federick Atherton." Production at the factory is roughly 20 movements per day.

1868

The capital stock in The United States Watch Co. raises dramatically to $1,000,000.

1872

After running short on capital, the United States Watch Co. (Marion) is assigned to William Muirhead and reorganized as the Marion Watch Co.

1873

The Financial Panic of 1873 causes sales to decline rapidly. While the company is able to proceed, it will never fully recover from the downturn.

1874

The factory mortgage is forclosed, and the Marion Watch Co. ceases operation. The company equipment is sold to Auburdale Watch Co., Fitchburg Watch Co., Independent Watch Co., and E.F. Bowman.
